XCOM Enemy Unknown - Elite Edition App Reviews

I LOVE enemy unknown, but I installed enemy within and now it won’t even open. Please help it was really expensive and now I can’t even play it.

I purchsed the version of XCOM for my ipad about a month ago. I loved it and had a lot of fun playing in it until I progressed to a point in the game where my 16gig iPad would freeze up. So I waited a while and finaly decided to purchse the game for my desktop computer thinking I would have better luck. I haven’t. I just started playing it and withing the first 45 minutes the game froze while I was trying to customize soldiers. I can’t believe how big of a sucker I am, to think that they created a mac version of this game that wasn’t buggy. Fool me once shame on you, fool my twice shame on me!

The game, while fun, is very buggy. I have seen bugs such as (but not limited to) bizarre line of site errors, random freezes lasting for up to a minute, phantom enemies, and the game flat out crashing. But my biggest complaint is that I downloaded the Enemy Within expansion, and enjoyed it for all of one week before updating the OS to Yosemite. Now the game is completely broken, and while Feral has at least acknowledged the issue, they have been quite dishonest about the status of a patch. I have been told by support on multiple occasions that a patch would definitely be out "in a few days”. That was a month or two ago. That this type of a problem even existed at the launch of Yosemite should be an embaressment. Clearly patching this is not a priority for Feral. If you’re running Yosemite, stay away. If this game were playable I would give it a 3 or 4 star rating. If it were both playable and relatively bug free it might even earn 5 stars. I would suggest checking it out on a different platform as the release for Mac is broken. Kudos to Apple for refunding my money, but quite honestly a broken product should not be allowed to be sold in the app store in the first place.

Love the game, but after Yosemite, it doesnt open. When is it going to fixed?

After upgrade to Yosemite the game stopped working. The workaround proposed at feralinteractive does not work. Until fixing the problem, 1 star.

I loved to play when I have a free minute. With last update I can’t even open it now!!! Would expect something to change.

Ultimately, the revitalization of the xcom series helps set this game (particularly the re-re-imagining of the game via Enemy Within) as one of the best turn based games of the last few years (you don’t have to take my word for it, check out any game rating site, or meta critic). This game is worth every penny. It’s one of those games where you may have other, blockbuster, fantastic games to get into… but all you’ll want to do is play XCom. Seriously though, get the enemy within expansion pack. It re-tells the game the way (I suspect) the original developers wanted to, but didn’t get the chance to do because of crushing deadlines for launching the original XCom enemy unknown.

Great game with great design and game play! I highly recommend this game especially now that Ferral Interactive finally fixed the bugs.

I love this game. The only issue I have is on the alien base invade mission. When the mission loads in there is a message window that wont go away when I hit ok. There is nothing written in the message box, just a blank message box and it won’t go away when I hit ok. Also I can’t move my troops so I can’t progress in the story. I’ve paid for the DLC as well so this is a little frustrating. Hopefully this will be patched soon. Other then that the game plays great and is lot’s of fun. More games like this please!

Has nothing to do with my graphic settings, it lags on any setting you play on. It even lags right when you get to the menu.

This is a great game. It ran great on OS X 10.10.2, but constantly crashes on OS X 10.10.3.

I know it is a good game, but I can’t play it on my macbook pro 2015 with OS X 10.10.5. After I downloaded the game and clicked the shortcut, a window occurred showing some pre-settings. Then I clicked play and there was nothing showing except my desktop. Anyway I can’t enter the game, so some bugs need be fixed. I hope the upates can be released quickly.

For myself this game downloaded smoothly, installed and open without issue,and for the amazingly low price of 9.99. thats a steal with all the gameplay and storyline thats included. Controls are complex for novice gamers with keyboard, and is meant to be played with a controller or gamepad that are supported by this game. "Get it you won’t regret it"

This game crashes constantly. It used to crash on launch every other time; now it doesn’t launch at all. Running on 5k iMac with 4Ghz i7, and AMD R9 M295x with 4 gigs of v-ram.

I had never played this series and it was awesome until about the 4th or 5th mission when the game just repeatedly crashes. At least I only paid $10.

I got this game the day before I upgraded to El Capitan. It was working with Yosemite but can’t run on El Capitan. I hope the fix wil come soon….

I just bought this game on sale for $10, I am running El Capitan on a late 2013 iMac and the program crashes on startup. It took 14 hours to install and isn’t working. I’m very frustrated.

This game is fun, addicting, and overall a great experience, until the frustration of it crashing every five minutes catches up to you. It didnt even crash (and ran very well) until I hit the final mission of my first game. And I couldn’t even finish the mission it was glitching so badly. Now, I can’t even start a new game without fear of everything stopping and my game closing. Will give five stars once a patch is released that fixes the problem. If a patch IS ever released.

Having played this on PS3 I know it’s a fantastic game, however this port won’t run at all on my 15” MBP running OS X 10.11, it crashes immediately when opened.

I purchased this at a discount. Apparently, the game is not compatible with OS X 10.11 (El Capitan). Who knew the reason for the discount was to sell a few more copies before it became unsaleable.
